Ontwerpen en organiseren van (gratis) eén- a twee-weekse zomerkampen voor meisjes 13-18 jaar, in de zomers van 2021 en 2022, om daarmee een levendige ervaring te organiseren wat betreft ‘bèta-contexten’, zoals software-engineering, programmeertalen, e.d.
De ervaringen in de verschillende partnerlanden in EU zullen gebruikt worden om elkaar te versterken in de lokale keuzes en uitwerkingen voor kampen en andere activiteiten (en aanvullend onderzoek).
Een en ander kan worden uitgevoerd met een ondersteunende subsidie van de EU volgens
deze regeling.

- Number of organized camps: each partner will run 2 summer camps during project duration which sums up to 22 summer camps (at least, it might be more depending on the realization. Some HEI might organize large camps, offering activities for different age levels at the same time, some HEI might organize more than one camp per summer and sort them by topics or age levels).
- number of participants: 1000 girls are a realistic target (assuming that each summer camp attracts around 50 girls). This calculation matches with other summer camps, which were organized by our partners and linked schools.
- Percentage of female teachers/educators running the sessions (as described above female STEM teachers are necessary to help girls overcome stereotypes). As a realistic target, we estimate that at least 11 female teachers will be involved in the sessions (if we assume, that 2 teachers will be involved in the summer camps in each country). It might be much more female teachers, as probably most countries will involve more than 2 teachers.
- number of actively involved business representatives per country as indirect indicator to evaluate our links to the world of work (because these links are important to connect girls and possible future employers). Again, a modest estimate would be that we involve 3 business representatives per country and summer camp, leading to 33 business representatives involved.
Andere spinoff – een Europees GEM netwerk (GEMNet): a network of schools, universities, high education institutions and companies will be set up. It will serve as a platform to support the advancement of girls in STEM education and careers, to exchange best practices and to raise awareness of girls all over Europe concerning the full spectrum of education and training options.

Het klopt dat er een ‘gat’ zit in dit project van 1-8-2020 tot 1-4-2021. Dit is bewust gekozen, om vooral een goede focus te krijgen op twee zomerkamp-cycli in 2021 en 2022, die mogelijk is geworden door een uitloop van het project ivm de corona-crisis in 2020.

We will work with girls age group 14-15 (grades 8 and 9). The girls come from schools in the Utrecht Region (about 50 girls in a total).
