Nieuwe Wiskrant. Tijdschrift voor Nederlands Wiskundeonderwijs This is a review of IOWO’s last booklet ‘De achterkant van de Möbiusband ‘(The backside of the Möbius strip) – a strange title because, as mathematicians know, the Möbius strip (the symbol of the IOWO) has no backside at all. Though, it gets one as soon as you cut it, and that is what was done with the IOWO. The booklet contains papers about research, curriculum development, further training, innovation in the field of mathematics education. IOWO’s view on mathematics instruction comes about in each of the 33 papers. In a way ‘De achterkant van de Möbiusband’ is the swan-song of the IOWO, the last message of this unique team. The ‘Vakgroep OW&OC ‘, the heir presumptive of the IOWO, will try to work in the spirit of the IOWO, which is so marvelously expressed in this book. |
